One Last Chance to Dance

DSC_1339I am a sunshine-lovin’, summertime sizzlin’ type of gal who gets a wee bit melancholy when the leaves begin to fall, the light starts to fade and the temperature drops considerably. So imagine my profound glee when we had not one, but two eighty-degree days of bikini-wearing weather earlier this week. I certainly hope the sun and warm temperatures are staying put for the weekend. I sure would love for the folks who are participating in Saturday’s Beach Dance to experience Cannon Beach weather at its best. Even if the sun don’t shine, we’ll be on the beach movin’ and groovin’ one last time before the 2009 season comes to an end.

Last Friday night’s dance was fabulous! The weather was decent, the people were awesome and the dance was absolutely delicious. The invitation I suggested for the evening’s event was “to listen to and dance your own wisdom” Thank you Daric, Elia, Joan, Debra, Joe, Heather, Jenni, Sofie and Pattra for showing me through your dance and with your words afterward how beautiful and powerful this combination of music, movement and nature can be. I am reminded time and time again how important it is to continue to share this kind of dancing experience with others. For me, that was all the wisdom I needed to hear during my dance that night.

As the second season of Beach Dance comes to a close on Saturday, I’m already looking forward to next summer as well as what happens between now and then. The news of Beach Dance is beginning to spread far and wide and it’s time to travel and take it on the road. In the September issue of Spirituality & Health magazine, Beach Dance has a short and sweet mention. I’ve noticed recently that there have been quite a few new folks (welcome everyone!) subscribing to the posts here and I believe I have Stephen Kiesling, the managing editor of the magazine, to thank for that. In fact, I’ve received several emails from people from far-away places that have expressed interest in attending a future event or have provided encouragement and well-wishes or have even said, “I wish we could do something like this where I live.” Well, guess what? We can!

A lovely woman from Puerto Rico named Evelyn wrote to me and we’ve been exchanging emails and discussing the possibility of creating an event right where she’s at. I told her if she could get at least fifteen people together, I’d come and we’d have ourselves an event or two. I’ll let you know as soon as I do, when and where Beach Dance will be moving beyond Cannon Beach this fall, winter and spring. I’m headed to Maui in mid-October and again at the end of January so you can probably guess what I’m going to be packing in my suitcase other than my swimsuit and sunscreen. Yep…iPods!

Speaking of iPods…there are just five more spots left for the last event. If you’d like to be a part of the last dance of the summer season, call or email me a.s.a.p. I’d love to see sixteen people swaying to the music Saturday morning.
